London and Rome – The Pope rested peacefully during the night when he began his 27th consecutive day in the hospital on Wednesday morning, said the Vatican.

The Pope’s prognosis was “raised” on Monday, which means that it is no longer in imminent danger, but the clinical image remains complex.

The 88 -year -old pontiff will continue “for additional days, pharmacological medical therapy in a hospital environment” due to the “complexity of the clinical image and the significant infectious image presented in hospitalization,” said the Vatican.

“The improvements recorded in the previous days have been further established, as confirmed by both blood and clinical objectivity and the good response to pharmacological therapy. For these reasons, doctors decided to lift the prognosis,” said the Holy See, the Vatican press office in a statement.
